Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their groundbreaking achievements. Their most astonishing invention, called the Firebird, allows users to jump into multiple universes—and promises to revolutionize science forever. But then Marguerite’s father is murdered, and the killer—her parent’s handsome, enigmatic assistant Paul— escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite refuses to let the man who destroyed her family go free. So she races after Paul through different universes, always leaping into another version of herself. But she also meets alternate versions of the people she knows—including Paul, whose life entangles with hers in increasingly familiar ways. Before long she begins to question Paul’s guilt—as well as her own heart. And soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is far more sinister than she expected.

Review:

So this was a book that I didn’t know if I should have high or low expectations for as I’ve heard so many great things about it and some people said it kinda fell flat so I was quite nervous jumping into it! But this book was quite enjoyable and the perfect teen ya fantasy book if you’re in the mood for some teen romance, adventure, inter dimensional travel, as well as reimagining history! The last one really excited me!

Marguerite loves her nerdy scientist parents. They have a love for learning that they not only passed down to her, but also accepted that her love was in the humanities sphere and not the science sphere. But when one of her father’s research assistants murders him, she and another assistant, Theo, must jump through time and space to find him and bring justice to her father.

I loved the reimagining of life in like “what if” scenarios. What if her parents chose a different field of science, what if her mother never left Russia, what if she grew up with her aunt? This brings a lively addition to the book! And there were definitely some parts of the book that shocked me and I didn’t expect coming! And the love story was not what I was expecting at all! Which kept me on my toes! I’ll definitely continue on with the series!

Happy reading!
