The third book in the Fairmile series, this book takes place years after the second one. Historically it follows the reign of James II and the Glorious Revolution, and through this we get to read about the experiences of the Reekie family. This book also travels from England to Amsterdam, to colonists in North America and a sugar plantation in Barbados.

It was interesting to read about Alinor’s life and how it progressed and this is an interesting time period to read about! While the first book is my favourite, this is still a good book!
