What if damnation is the price of true love?

Innocent blood has been spilled on the steps of the Council Hall, the sacred stronghold of the Shadowhunters. In the wake of the tragic death of Livia Blackthorn, the Clave teeters on the brink of civil war. One fragment of the Blackthorn family flees to Los Angeles, seeking to discover the source of the disease that is destroying the race of warlocks. Meanwhile, Julian and Emma take desperate measures to put their forbidden love aside and undertake a perilous mission to Faerie to retrieve the Black Volume of the Dead. What they find in the Courts is a secret that may tear the Shadow World asunder and open a dark path into a future they could never have imagined. Caught in a race against time, Emma and Julian must save the world of Shadowhunters before the deadly power of the parabatai curse destroys them and everyone they love.

Review:

Wow I’m finally finished this series and I’m so sad it’s done! I need more Emma and Julian and the Blackthorns and ugh I need more! It’s hard to talk about this book because I don’t want to ruin or spoil anything because so much happens that connects to things that could spoil the first two!

The thing I love about this book and this series is the character development! All the characters grow in different ways which is a great way to connect the reader to multiple characters! Obviously Emma was my favourite but I enjoyed reading from the perspective of others (except Cristina, still don’t like that character. I also don’t really love Keiran. Boring!)

The book shifts back and forth between different characters perspectives and how they are reacting to different events! I really like this style of writing as it allows you to learn more about other characters and gives you a more developed understanding of the plot! Which is fun!

Overall, I totally recommend this series, but I think you should read the Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series before this one as it provides context!

Happy reading!
