Synopsis (Goodreads):
FROM THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE HUSBAND’S SECRET AND BIG LITTLE LIES.
A “cheerfully engaging”(Kirkus Reviews) novel for anyone who’s ever asked herself, “How did I get here?”
Alice Love is twenty-nine, crazy about her husband, and pregnant with her first child. So imagine Alice’s surprise when she comes to on the floor of a gym (a gym! She HATES the gym) and is whisked off to the hospital where she discovers the honeymoon is truly over–she’s getting divorced, she has three kids, and she’s actually 39 years old. Alice must reconstruct the events of a lost decade, and find out whether it’s possible to reconstruct her life at the same time. She has to figure out why her sister hardly talks to her, and how is it that she’s become one of those super skinny moms with really expensive clothes. Ultimately, Alice must discover whether forgetting is a blessing or a curse, and whether it’s possible to start over…
Review:
This book was so interesting and really makes you think about what you would do and what you would feel if you were in a similar situation.
Alice has a great life. She’s married to her soul mate and they are expecting their first child. But when Alice wakes up one day, it’s ten years later. Alice has to piece together the last ten years of her life and figure out why her life didn’t end up as she planned.
This book makes you think about how much people change as they get older and how people and events can shape us. It also shows us how much we mature as time goes on, and that some things that used to be important aren’t really that important anymore. I think it could scare me so much to wake up and not recognize my life. Especially if I couldn’t remember my children. Moriarty really makes you feel connected to the character of Alice and feel what she is feeling! She’s an amazing author as she is able to craft stories that stick with the reader! This is the second book I’ve read by her and I’ve enjoyed it almost as much as Big Little Lies! If you enjoyed that book, then you should definitely check out this one!
Happy reading!
