Synopsis (Goodreads):
In the next installment of the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series, follow Chaol on his sweeping journey to a distant empire.
Chaol Westfall has always defined himself by his unwavering loyalty, his strength, and his position as the Captain of the Guard. But all of that has changed since the glass castle shattered, since his men were slaughtered, since the King of Adarlan spared him from a killing blow, but left his body broken.
His only shot at recovery lies with the legendary healers of the Torre Cesme in Antica—the stronghold of the southern continent’s mighty empire. And with war looming over Dorian and Aelin back home, their survival might lie with Chaol and Nesryn convincing its rulers to ally with them.
But what they discover in Antica will change them both—and be more vital to saving Erilea than they could have imagined.
Review:
Oh my golly I loved this book! I was quite hesitant when it was first released that the next book in the Throne of Glass series was going to be about Chaol, I was a little disappointed. I really wanted to continue the story with Aelin and Rowan. But this book blew me away and I’m so happy about it!
The book follows what happens with Chaol and Nesryn following the ending of Queen of Shadows. I’m not going to say too much, as I don’t want to reveal anything. I always find it so hard to review books in the middle of a series in fear of spoiling things for the people that haven’t read the series, but are still wanting to! So all I’m going to say is that Chaol goes in search of allies, and the adventure he goes on reveals a ton of things that connect to the main plot of the story, and uncover many insights to the main story. I’m really glad that Maas decided to include things in this book that allowed the main story to move along as well!
I’ve said it before, but I love the character of Chaol! He’s so dreamy and he had some major character development in this book! I loved it.
We are also introduced to another character, Yrene Towers, who played a major role in the book and she easily became one of my new favourite characters! That’s all I’m going to say on her so I don’t spoil anything!
For those of you wondering if this book is going to be just as good as previous book, I definitely think it is and think you should read it as it has some important points to the rest of the series!
Happy reading!
