Felix Hoenikker’s Death Wish comes true when his last, fatal gift to mankind brings about the end, that for all of us, is nigh …
Review:
This was my first read by Vonnegut and I’m delightfully surprised! I wasn’t really sure what to expect, especially since I couldn’t figure out how the title connected to the premise of the novel based on the synopsis! But I was hooked in on the story right from the beginning!
Cat’s Cradle is a story that discusses issues surrounding scientific advancement, society, as well as religion, and this is done through Vonnegut’s clever use of irony. The main protagonist of the story is a man who is writing a book about the man who created the Atomic Bomb, Dr. Hoenikker. Through his quest to find out more about the man, the main character, named John (Jonah) learns a lot about himself and how he perceives himself in this world.
The author creates a religion in the book where the people believe that the things that happen are inevitable.
The book is somewhat of a warning on scientific developments and how humans have the power to destroy each other through science!
I really enjoyed reading this one!
Happy reading!
