Their passionate encounter happened long ago by whatever measurement Claire Randall took. Two decades before, she had traveled back in time and into the arms of a gallant eighteenth-century Scot named Jamie Fraser. Then she returned to her own century to bear his child, believing him dead in the tragic battle of Culloden. Yet his memory has never lessened its hold on her… and her body still cries out for him in her dreams.

Then Claire discovers that Jamie survived. Torn between returning to him and staying with their daughter in her own era, Claire must choose her destiny. And as time and space come full circle, she must find the courage to face the passion and pain awaiting her…the deadly intrigues raging in a divided Scotland… and the daring voyage into the dark unknown that can reunite—or forever doom—her timeless love.

Review:

It’s always hard to review a book that’s in the middle of a series, so I’m just going to talk general here.

I didn’t like the time gap in this story. Maybe it’s because it made me sad, but still. However, it was so great to be back with Claire and Jamie and see how their story progressed! The first couple hundred pages were so hooking that I couldn’t put the book down. Unfortunately, things slowed down a bit, and the rest of the book was up and down in terms of action and plot development. Something crazy would happen, and then it would take a while to explain things with nothing really happening. Other characters developed quite well, but I don’t want to say anything else about them in order to avoid spoilers.

I still love this series and I’m excited that the show is back on tv. I’m kinda hesitant to continue reading the series after that ending, but I will probably revisit this series in a bit. And don’t worry friends, Jamie is still a heartthrob.

Happy reading!
