The professor travels to Iceland accompanied by his nephew, Axel, a keen young geologist. Together with a Swiss guide, they descend into the bowels of the earth where an amazing prehistoric world awaits them.

Review:

This book was a cute, short read! I love the relationship between the professor and his nephew, Axel! The professor is so excited to find the centre of the earth, and Axel is the voice of reason trying to convince him not to! Lidenbrock reminded me a bit of the crazy professor who wants to go on all these crazy adventures to prove his scientific theories right!

I’m not a big fan of science fiction, but I really enjoyed the description of the journey, and how the characters experienced the journey! I also thought it was funny how they had an Icelandic guide, Hans, who did all the heavy lifting because he was strong and resourceful!

If you like science fiction and classics, and are looking for a quick read, then I would definitely recommend this book!
