Review:

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a very interesting read! The story was developed well, and I connected well with the main character, Tegan.

Tegan is a typical character in the sense that she is artsy-she can draw, and she can sing and play music. She got accepted to Columbia University in the United States, but she cannot go since her parents can’t afford to send her. Her parents run a holiday inn out of her father’s family estate, but the land tax and the mortgage are too expensive. Tegan also finds it difficult to let people in, and she only is close to her gay best friend, Simon. Then, all of a sudden, Tegan’s life is changed by the presence of Mason Keene, a famous musician who stays at her family’s estate. She gets to know the person behind the pop star, and in doing so she learns a lot about herself.

Mason is also an interesting character in that he has realized that being a famous pop star is not all it’s cracked up to be, and he really wants to be able to play his own music. He goes to Tegan’s family’s estate, where he learns what he wants to do with his music!

One thing that stuck out in the book was Tegan had a key that opened a box with letters in in. These letters were from a man who was in love with her ancestor during the First World War. These letters were an interesting addition to the book, but I felt like they did not really tie to the story as much as it could have; except for the fact that Tegan wore the key around her neck as a necklace, and she identified with the love shown in the letters…so I guess it did tie into the story a bit, but I still feel like it could have been developed a bit more. The book was also a bit predictable in some places, but overall I really enjoyed the book and would definitely recommend it!

Happy Reading!
